The SWR is currently building a new railway underbridge that will link Tannery Road to Haines Road. This underbridge is being built next to the Pulakeshinagar underbridge and will significantly improve the traffic congestion around the Bangalore East railway station area.

According to reports, this underbridge will be seven metres wide and four metres high. To speed up the construction process, the SWR has decided to precast arches for construction. This will minimise disruptions to train operations and also enhance safety by avoiding prolonged speed restrictions on the tracks, as per reports.

This underbridge on Tannery Road is being built at an estimated cost of ₹4 crore and will be open for public use by May end. This time frame includes construction and all the necessary clearance of approach roads towards the underbridge as well.

This underbridge at Tannery Road will significantly alleviate traffic congestion in the area. It will be a crucial intersection link connecting Tannery Road, Haines Road, Bore Bank Road, Pottery Road, and MM Road. Currently, vehicles approaching the existing underbridge come from four different directions and have to wait at a signal before moving ahead.

According to SWR’s plan, once this bridge opens to the public, vehicles coming from Pottery Road towards Haines Road and Netaji Road will be allowed to take a free left. This will eliminate the need for signals at this junction. Furthermore, vehicles coming from Bore Bank Road will enjoy unrestricted access to Tannery Road, transforming the area into a signal-free corridor.

We really hope this new underbridge solves the traffic congestion woes in this area.
