Mother’s Day: Chocolates Among Top Last-Minute Gifts; Ice Cream Cakes See 69% Rise In Orders

Just three days back, on May 10, India celebrated one of the most important relationships of their lives, Mother’s Day. This year, the celebration looked a bit different as people moved beyond cakes and flowers and focused more on wellness-driven gifting choices. Here’s what Instamart’s Mother’s Day Gifting Trends 2026 reveals!

How Indian Celebrated Mother’s Day?

Instamart shared data revealing how India celebrated Mother’s Day this year. Apart from flowers and cakes, people this year showed interest in more useful gifts. Shopping carts also included protein powders, sleep gummies, and other wellness products. But that doesn’t mean old habits disappeared. Flowers were still delivered early in the morning, while cake sales peaked in the evening. The busiest gifting time was between 8 and 9 PM.

The average spending on gifting was around ₹5,500. Massagers also became popular, rising by 136%. Beauty gift packs grew by 77%, especially in larger cities, and of course, people are now showing more interest in skincare and self-care. Premium perfumes saw a big jump of 134%. Home ambience items like candles, diffusers, and décor also increased by 34%, especially in cities like Kolkata and Jaipur.

No surprise that chocolates were in 15 out of 20 gifting items, proving they were the perfect last-minute surprise. Cakes also stayed popular, and ice cream cakes grew by 69%, peaking around 7 PM. This shows how many people preferred celebrating at home.

Which City Ordered The Most?

Bengaluru was on top among the city who ordered the most for Mother’s Day gifting. Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Delhi also saw high gifting orders. At the same time, smaller cities like Nagpur, Patna, Lucknow, and Kolkata also joined the trend.

One thing that remained common in every city is the chocolates ordered. They were among the top two gifting choices. But not every city ordered the same chocolates. People in Mumbai and Pune mostly ordered mawa cakes with chocolates. Chennai and Kochi preferred brownie cakes and regional sweet options. Kolkata showed the biggest love for chocolates, while Delhi and Gurgaon mostly picked classic sponge cakes along with chocolates.

Some of the biggest Mother’s Day gifting carts also showed different gifting styles in every city. In Mumbai, one of the biggest orders included premium artisan chocolates in flavours like gianduja hazelnut and orange chocolate.

Meanwhile, Gurgaon’s gifting choices focused more on fitness and health. People ordered whey protein, fermented protein cold coffee, and pre-workout supplements. Jaipur leaned more toward relaxation and self-care, with carts filled with magnesium supplements and sleep gummies.

Hyderabad, on the other hand, mixed wellness with indulgence. Orders there included protein shakes, skincare products, and chocolates altogether in one gifting cart.
