Working remotely sounds like a dream, right? We can just take our laptops and work in a cafe with a hot cup of coffee by our side. This has become very common in recent days. But now it has become so common that many people spend hours at cafes, occupying space for long durations. This has made many cafes restrict laptop usage. A woman from Bengaluru, Manju, recently took to X to talk about this issue.
Apparently, she went to Indiranagar and planned to work from a cafe. But most cafes, such as Concu and Araku, did not allow laptops. She had to visit Third Wave Coffee again to work. According to Manju, she found this “weird”.

Netizens React To The Post
According to Hindustan Times, Concu, a cafe in Indiranagar, Bengaluru, known for coffee, matcha, and more, stated that it does not allow long-duration laptop usage during weekends. This restriction ensures better seating availability for other diners during peak hours. Not just Concu, many cafes in India have started introducing restrictions on long-duration laptop usage during peak hours due to increasing crowds.
This post by Manju has now ignited a serious discussion online. One user agreed with the cafe’s decision and wrote, “People come to these cafes, buy one coffee and spend the whole day in the AC environment.” Another user mentioned that Concu has clearly stated that their cafe is not a co-working space. A third user wrote, “Probably loss of business for them, probably loss of potential customers too, maybe that is why they are not allowing laptops.”
