“Beware Of Phone Robbery In BMTC Bus,” Warns Reddit User; Netizens Call It An Organised Crime

Travelling on public transport is a primary mode of transportation for most people in India. From buses to trains, most rely on different public transportation facilities for commuting every day and reaching destinations. If you think that crowds during peak hours are the only worst thing about catching a bus, then you are wrong. Along with the huge number of passengers during peak hours in the morning and evening, there are also risks of getting robbed. Interestingly, this is something common in BMTC buses.

Many Passengers’ Mobiles Have Been Stolen

Taking to Reddit, u/unrealmatrix made Netizens aware of the ongoing stealing incidents inside BMTC buses.

The Reddit user shared how such incidents of stealing passengers’ mobile phones have increased recently. While travelling on a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus, the user noticed a boy stealing another passenger’s mobile. Before others could understand that the guy was a thief, he simply ran away. Shockingly, the thief ran in front of a policeman at the Yeswanthpur bus stand. Not just one, but this Netizen actually came across 3-5 people in a week whose mobiles got stolen.

To make the journey a bit safer, the user shared some suggestions as well. Firstly, it is better to keep the mobile in the hands, especially while boarding or getting off the bus. If not urgent, skip catching the jam-packed buses as robbing gets easier among a lot of people. Another place inside a BMTC bus that is an easy target for thieves is the seats close to the back door and the senior citizen seats.

Do not keep your mobile inside the bag while you are inside the bus or near the bus stand. Do it before reaching the place and robbers might notice it and try to steal from your bag. Another suggestion is to connect a wired headphone to the mobile.
