Bihar: North East Express Derails In Buxar On Wednesday Night; 4 Dead, Over 70 Injured

In a horrifying incident, the North East Express derailed in the Buxar district of Bihar. On Wednesday night, the scary accident took place, hurting and injuring passengers severely. The express train derailed and met with a terrible accident near the Raghunathpur station. Some passengers in some of the coaches suffered critical injuries. Unfortunately, 4 of them have passed away. Read on to know all about the derailing incident.

Here Are All The Updates About North East Express’s Accident

Taking to the X (Formerly Twitter) platform, Arvind Kejriwal(श्री 420) (@arvindKejri420) shared visuals of the rescue operations.

  • It was around 9:50 PM on October 11, 2023, when the Train number 12506 derailed.
  • 6 coaches of the train derailed. About 2 of these affected coaches were of AC 3 tier, according to a report by India Today.
  • The train was travelling to Kamakhya Junction in Guwahati from Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi.
  • The 23-coach North East Express derailed around 40 km away from Bihar’s Buxar district. Also, the accident spot is about 160 km away from Patna, according to a report by Indian Express.
  • 4 people lost their lives in the North East Express derailing accident. More than 70 passengers faced injuries.

ᴀsʜɪsʜ sʜᴀʀᴍᴀ (@AshishKrVivek) shared some snippets of the accident and rescue efforts.

Rescue Operations Began Immediately

Hansraj Meena (@HansrajMeena) shared a clip of the rescue effort and massive chaos all around right after the derailing accident.

A huge number of passengers were stuck inside the train. Right after the derailing accident, the concerned people started to rescue people from that situation. Ambulances and doctors quickly visited the accident spot to assist the injured people. Many injured passengers were taken to AIIMS Patna for treatment.

Following the North East Express accident, the East Central Railway zone stated that the Kashi Patna Jan Shatabdi Express (15125) and Patna Kashi Jan Shatabdi Express (15126) were cancelled. Also, more than 20 trains scheduled to travel on that route were diverted.

Railway officials were also present to probe and find the reason behind the train accident.
