Bikaner Railway Station: Features, Cost, And More; Rail Min Ashwini Shares Facelift Plan Video

On July 8 Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the facelift of Rajasthan’s Bikaner railway station. The station will be revamped with new amenities and features at an estimated cost of ₹470 crore. The Minister of Railways of India, Ashwini Vaishnaw, shared the design video of the station on his official Twitter handle. Bikaner Railway Station To Be Revamped

The Bikaner railway station will be modernised with top-notch features to offer more and improved amenities to all passengers. After transformation, the capacity to handle passengers will increase from 25,875 per day to 77,245 per day.

Passengers arriving at the stations and leaving will use separate entry and exit gates. A lobby, FOBs, food court, cafeteria, restrooms, etc. are all included in the rehabilitation project. Additionally, it will include paid lounges, lifts, escalators, retirement apartments, shops, and much more. The station will contain 24 escalators, 13 retiring rooms, 38 lifts, and 35 bunk beds.

Future Extension Plans

The railroads will construct a circulating area with appropriate traffic flow, greenery, and distinct gates for inbound and outbound traffic. Additionally, it will feature multiple parking spaces where commuters can leave their cars and catch the train. 

The Bikaner railway station premises will have a 98 m by 36 m air concourse. It will contain dining areas, retail space, and departure facilities. The station will also have commercial spaces as part of the future extension plans.

The NWR administration also intended to restore the ceiling, flooring, and all platforms. Additionally, it will have solar energy, rainwater harvesting, solid waste management, fire fighting arrangements, energy management, Divyangjan facilities, smart stations, green building certification, parking bay electrical car charging points, and more.
