As we step into 2026, people celebrate in their own way. While some partied out or dined at restaurants, many chose to enjoy food delivered at their doorstep. Orders ranged from biryanis and burgers to pizzas and traditional desserts. Here’s what topped the list on Swiggy!
People in cities like Patna, Surat, Vadodara, Nagpur, Jaipur, Pune, and Indore were in a full party mood. By evening, Cakes, Pizzas, and Biryanis were already trending. Biryani once again proved why it’s the king of Indian parties. How? 2,18,993 orders were placed before 7:30 pm. 1,336 biryanis were ordered every minute. Some celebrations went all out. One party in Bhubaneswar even ordered 16 kilos of biryani in a single go!

Once again, there were many orders for pizzas and burgers. By 8:30 PM, over 2.18 lakh pizzas and 2.16 lakh burgers were. Pizza remained the top choice to welcome 2026. There were also some extreme individual orders. A Bengaluru customer ordered 100 burgers at once. In Goa, someone ordered 39 portions of kebabs and tikkas. Gurugram saw 18 boxes of brownies and 18 plum cakes in a single order. In Nagpur, one person placed more than 93 orders throughout the day. Surat had a user ordering from 22 different restaurants on December 31 alone.
Cities Leading In Swiggy Dineout
As the night went on, Indian desserts like Rasmalai, Gajar Halwa, and Gulab Jamun became the favourites. Dining out was also a popular choice. Cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad led the way on Swiggy Dineout. Ahmedabad saw a 1.6x rise in bookings, Lucknow 1.3x, and Jaipur 1.2x.
Vadodara and Chandigarh had big group celebrations with bookings for 30 people each. In Mumbai, one customer celebrated with a bill of ₹94,251, while in Pune and Chennai, customers enjoyed huge savings of 61.3% and 50%, respectively. These numbers show that people not only ordered the food online but also enjoyed a great feast in restaurants.
