Blood Moon 2025: From Date To Visibility, All You Need To Know About This Rare, Total Lunar Eclipse

Skygazers all over the globe are in for a treat from heaven, as Blood Moon 2025 will be taking place on March 14, 2025. This total lunar eclipse will occur when the Earth comes directly in between the Sun and the Moon, placing its shadow on the surface of the Moon and giving it a beautiful reddish hue. It is the first total lunar eclipse since 2022, set to be an exciting event for all astronomy fans.

Where And When To Watch Blood Moon 2025

The Blood Moon 2025 will be observable from different regions in North and South America, Europe, and Africa. Unfortunately, viewers in India will miss out on this opportunity.

The eclipse will start on the evening of March 13 and extend into the early morning of March 14. The penumbral eclipse will start at 11:57 PM (EST) on March 13, with the partial eclipse starting at 1:09 AM (EST) on March 14. 

The total eclipse, when Earth’s shadow will completely cover the Moon, will begin at 2:26 AM and will be at its peak at 2:58 AM, lasting for 65 minutes. The entire phase will be completed at 3:31 AM, with the partial eclipse at 4:47 AM and the whole phenomenon will be completed by 6:00 AM.

How To Observe The Blood Moon 2025 Eclipse

To get the best view of this celestial spectacle, get somewhere beyond city lights and skyscrapers. While the eclipse will be visible to the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope can certainly add some depth to the experience, making the red hue of the Moon more vibrant.

This is a once-in-a-blue-moon chance for sky observers to view one of the wonders of nature. The first total lunar eclipse in more than two years, this one will be closely monitored by scientists and amateur astronomers alike.
