BMC Begins Initial Work On Kandivali-Goregaon East Connectivity Project; Details Inside

There are a number of developments taking place in Mumbai and work is underway for many civil projects. One of these happens to be the Kandivali Lokhandwala to Goregaon East connectivity project, for which the work began on Monday. Yes, the Brihanamumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) started the work on February 26, which will widen the road.

According to a report by Times Now News, it was mentioned that the BMC has begun the work on the initial phase, which involves widening of 500 m road in Malad East’s P Northwood. The initial work for the Kandivali Lokhandwala to Goregaon East Connectivity Project has begun. In case you weren’t aware, this is a strategic 2.1 km Road, which aims to build a link between Kandivali Lokhandwala and the Western Express highway in Goregaon East.

What Does The Project Entail?

Regarded as a vital project, it will further collect GMLR for better access to Eastern suburbs. As such, 500 m of bottleneck is being addressed, it is bound to provide new connectivity. It was also revealed that the new connectivity will be complete with bridges and concrete roads that will be 120 feet wide. They also highlighted that it’s going to impact about 1,376 structures, with 71 of these located in forested area, while the remaining are on the BMC land. During the demolition process, which took place on Monday, 168 structures were razed to expand the existing 30-foot road to 120 feet in Malad East.

So, once this project is complete, it is bound to serve as an alternative route for Kandivali residents that will link Goregaon East and Malad Reservoir to Lokhandwala Township.
