Apart from entertainment, one thing that helps you forget about your tiredness on long-haul flights is food. However, those people who frequently travel with British Airways have accused the company of trying to reduce expenses by implementing a new brunch service on long-haul flights.
What Is British Airways’ New Brunch Service?
This new meal service started on October 15, where flights departing between 8:30 a.m. and 11:29 a.m. will be offered extended breakfast for lunch meals. Cheese frittatas, Belgian waffles, and poached eggs on sourdough are now offered as the main in-flight meal menu for all seat types. This menu replaces the previous main course options of grilled halibut, chicken Wellington, and vegetarian korma in First Class. Appetisers, desserts, and wine are still available.
Club World passengers on flights departing after 11 a.m. may not receive meal services until around 1.30 p.m., as meal services only begin at cruising altitude, 30,000 feet or higher. Late-night flights will no longer offer appetisers or dessert choices, with main meals featuring paninis, soup, and salads. The airline’s lighter ‘goodnight’ menu aims to maximise onboard sleep for passengers departing after 9 p.m.
According to British Airways, these new brush services have been brought after getting positive feedback on classic brunch and lighter lunch options from the passengers, as reported by Independent. However, British Airways will continue to offer a full meal service on some of its long-haul flights.

Views of Travellers Regarding the New Brunch Service
The new modifications were considered “cheap” and a “major downgrade” of the service by frequent travellers. While some criticised cost-cutting by reducing canapés and adding cheap nuts and olives. Other passengers disagreed with the 11.29am cutoff, stating that a main course would likely be served after noon.
However, the British Airways spokesperson mentioned the premium dining experience with a variety of meal options to cater to customers’ preferences because the airline has received positive feedback from thousands of customers who have tried their new brunch offering across various routes, as reported by Independent.
