When we speak of spiritual tourism in India, the state of Uttar Pradesh is bound to be among the top places for it. The recently inaugurated Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has especially given a major boost to the tourism sector in this state. Now, the government is aiming to enhance the tourist sector to give travellers a more seamless and enjoyable experience. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about tourism development in this particular state.

According to an article which was recently published by The Times Of India or TOI, the UP government has commenced plans to boost tourism within the state. As per the article, the government aims to almost double the number of tourists and also increase the GVA of the tourist sector.

The GVA is the Gross Value Added and it basically means, the measure of the value added by a sector to the economy. The government has set a timeline for the next four years. By 2028, it aims to increase the GVA of the tourism sector to ₹70,000 crores.

As of now, it is ₹11,000 crores. It also aims to increase the number of tourists in the state. By 2023, it was 48 crore. It aims to increase this number to 80 crores by the end of the year 2028. The state is taking a number of measures to achieve this goal.

One of the measures is that it is developing as many as twelve new tourism circuits across the state. The preliminary work including analyses of gaps, surveys and planning is already going on. These attempts demonstrate the state’s commitment to making UP a world-class tourist destination.

Over the last decade, the state’s popularity as a tourist destination, especially for spiritual tourism, has increased significantly. By leveraging its potential for such tourism, UP can surely achieve these goals.
