The country recently launched a new “Open Work Permit” that lets visa holders get the chance to apply for a Canadian work permit. Sean Fraser, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada, made the announcement of introducing this program on 27 June, according to a report by Business Today. The all-new Open Work Permit is applicable for the US H-1B specialty occupation visa holders in the US. This permit makes it easier for people to work with most of the employers in this country. With this initiative, visa holders can help their immediate family members with permit chances for studying and professional purposes.

There is a significant reason behind introducing this initiative. Canada is looking for the best tech talents to bring them and establish the nation in this world of emerging technologies.

How Can One Apply For This Permit?

  • Anyone who is interested to apply for this program, need to own a valid US H-1B visa.
  • Also, they need to stay in the United States at the present moment. Everyone needs to show that they are living in the US while applying for a permit, according to a report by CIC News.

  • Applicants receiving the open work permit can use it for a period of 3 years.
  • Immediate family members get the chance to apply for a temporary resident visa.

Applying for this program is only a limited-time opportunity. The validity of this initiative will either remain for only a year or until the total number of applications reaches the mark of 10,000, as stated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. An important point to note here is that the limit of 10,000 applications is only for work permit applicants. This limit does not work for their family members.
