Catering Service In Delhi Run By Afghani Women Refugees

Celebrating Mother’s Day 2019, we bring you the story of ILHAM, an authentic Afghani catering service which was started in November 2015. It employs 7 Afghani women refugees who are mostly single mothers.

What Is It?

These Afghani women arrived in India from different parts of conflict ridden Afghanistan in hope of a better life. This hope came to them in the form of  ILHAM when the founder Aditi Sabbarwal identified the hidden chefs in these women. Each of them specialize in certain dishes and collectively they make for a diverse authentic Afghani menu. Their menu dishes out the popular Afghani (or Kabuli) Pulao, Mutton do Pyaaza & Chapli Kebab, Manthu – steamed Afghani dumplings filled with ground mutton, onions and spices and Afghani donuts called khajoor and paper-thin fried pastries called Gush-e-feel.

What Else?

This project has garnered lot of popularity already and receives orders in heaps from the US Embassy and privately  from Gurgaon, Saket.  ILHAM is on Foodcloud and Zomato but you can only take away as they don’t deliver. Priced reasonably, if you start getting attacked by hunger pangs , specially for Afghani flavors or Afghani pulao, then you know these women have got your back! Eh no, we mean your tummy!
