It began like any other warm, food-filled conversation. While cooking khatte baingan, mutton chops, khatte aloo and more on Sunday Brunch with Kamiya Jani, Remo D’Souza and Lizelle D’Souza didn’t just share recipes; they opened up about a chapter of their love life that feels almost too cinematic to be real.
Remo D’Souza & Lizelle Reveal Their Real Love Story On Sunday Brunch
Lizelle was only 20 when she found herself pregnant. At that age, with everything still uncertain, she made a decision that would set the tone for what followed. She told her mother that she and Remo had already gotten married in a mandir and were now living together. It sounded simple, convincing even. The truth, however, was different. They had not married. They were living together purely out of love, without any formal validation.
At the same time, they were also hiding the truth from Remo’s mother. There was one particular incident that stood out. When his mother unexpectedly visited their home, they quickly had to improvise. Lizelle was presented as someone who was just about to leave, almost like a guest who had dropped by briefly. It was a moment filled with tension, quick thinking, and a fair amount of panic.
Life, however, did not pause for them to sort things out. Their first son was born, bringing joy but also an unexpected reversal of expectations. Instead of being asked about children after marriage, they were now being urged to get married after already becoming parents. For nearly two years, family and well-wishers continued to push Lizelle towards tying the knot.

From Secret Live-In To Wedding: Remo & Lizelle’s Story
What made this even more ironic was Lizelle’s hesitation. Despite everything, she admitted that she still was not entirely convinced. As she put it, “Mujhe abhi bhi bharosa nahi hai.” It was a statement that made both Kamiya Jani and Remo laugh, especially considering that they already had a child and shared a home.
The turning point came from a deeply personal wish. Lizelle wanted to baptise her son, and that required a church wedding. The earlier story of a mandir marriage held no meaning in this context. Around the same time, her parents also discovered the truth, that the marriage they believed had happened never actually did.
Looking back, their story does not follow a perfect sequence. It is layered with fear, honesty, improvisation, and a kind of love that chooses commitment first and explanation later.
