The dream of working abroad is coming true for many. Canada has announced the ‘International Experience Canada’ programme to compensate for its decreasing workforce and stabilise its economy. The Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Sean Fraser, announced the IEC program on Wednesday. Here is what you need to know about working in Canada.
International Experience Canada 2023
In IEC 2023, international youth will get an opportunity to travel and work in Canada. Similarly, Canadian youth will experience the working culture of other countries. The new workforce in Canada will even include French-speaking youth, as Canada has a predominant French language.
The programme will focus on three categories. First, students that aim to gain experience will get employer-specific access as International Co-op participants, which is only for interns. Second, those who wish to travel and explore Canada can opt for an open work permit that will allow them to work anywhere in the country and fund their travel.

And lastly, working professionals who wish to gain experience in their respective fields can receive an employer-specific work permit. The programme applications will start on 9th January 2023. Also, there is a 20% increase in the number of applicants.
The Objectives of IEC 2023

According to Sean Fraser, International Experience Canada will help international youth gain the opportunities they need in return for strengthening the Canadian economy. This will be beneficial for the tourism industry as well. The IEC will enable international youth to explore Canadian culture, both for work, and vulture. This will benefit the building of ties with other people and allow businesses to flourish.
