Travellers will not have to transit through hubs like Hong Kong or Singapore to reach Mainland China. According to NDTV, on October 26, IndiGo resumed commercial air services between India and China. The airline flew the first direct flight between Kolkata and China’s Guangzhou city in nearly five years on Sunday. This move is expected to boost business and tourism ties between the two nations, with flights from Delhi set to follow soon.

As per reports, IndiGo flew its A320 Neo aircraft from the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at 10 PM on Sunday. The flight was carrying 176 passengers. NDTV reported that the resumption of flights between India and China was celebrated with a short ceremony at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. A ceremonial lamp was also lit up by one of the passengers before the flight began operations.
