The Eiffel Tower has long been a must-see for visitors worldwide. Its towering presence over Paris and its breathtaking views have made it one of the most visited monuments globally. When visiting Paris, climbing the Eiffel Tower and admiring the breathtaking vistas is an absolute must. The bad news is that tickets to climb the Eiffel Tower will cost more starting next month.
Ticket Prices For Eiffel Tower To Cost More
As of June 17, there will be an additional fee for ascending the famous tower, regardless of whether visitors opt to use the elevator or the steps. The cost of an adult ticket with elevator access to the highest viewpoint, for instance, will go from €29.40 ($31.98) to €35.30 ($38.40), according to the French network BFMTV. There will be an increase in the cost of Eiffel Tower tickets. For example, the cost of an adult elevator ride to the second floor will increase from €18.80 ($20.45) to €22.60 ($24.58). A ticket for stair access will also cost more, going from €11.80 ($12.84) to €14.20 ($15.45).
Children under the age of four will still be admitted free of charge. Although it’s unclear exactly when the new pricing will apply, reports indicate that tickets for trips starting on June 17 will go on sale later than usual. BFMTV reports that the price increase is related to a drop in visitors from 2020 to 2022 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision to increase the cost of climbing the Eiffel Tower has been driven by several factors, including rising maintenance costs, the need for enhanced security measures, and the impact of inflation.
Recent Price Increase
The fact that Paris is getting ready to host the Summer Olympics is another factor driving up the cost of visiting the Eiffel Tower. The tower will be available during the Olympic Games, however on July 26 for the opening ceremony, it will be closed. It was revealed in February 2024, incidentally, that Indian visitors to the Eiffel Tower would be able to purchase tickets using UPI. India publicly launched the UPI system at the tower on February 2. For tourists, the increased cost of climbing the Eiffel Tower may have mixed implications. The price increase at the Eiffel Tower reflects a broader trend among major tourist attractions worldwide.
