1. Smog Settles Over The City As Air Quality Declines

The air quality in Mumbai has fallen lower. Declining to 113, the air quality in Mumbai is now worse than Delhi’s, which is only 83. The Air Quality Index or the AQI showed that the air in the Andheri area of the city is the worst with 346. Other areas like Mazgaon and Navi Mumbai have a score of 317. The lower air quality can be attributed to lower wind speed and humid air which culminated in a thick smog settling over the city.
2. Mumbai Police Responds To Video Of Scooter Crossing Over Divider

The social media handles of the Mumbai Police are quite witty and often share funny responses. Recently, they shared a video with a hilarious caption. The video showed a scooter crossing over the divider. The caption described the person in the video taking “the road less travelled” referencing the famous line from Robert Frost’s famous poem. The caption supplemented the famous line with a hilarious quip and said that it only led the scooter driver to a challan!

The weather department has warned that a cyclone might be brewing in the Arabian Sea and it might be headed towards Mumbai.

The Indian Meteorological Department or the IMD posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), that a low-pressure area has built up and it might turn into a cyclone between October 21 and 23.

According to the latest update by Mumbai Rains, India might be in the clear as the cyclone’s track is changing. Mumbai and Pune might experience a drop in temperature though.
4. Mumbai Airport Runways Resume Operations

After being shut for six hours owing to post-monsoon maintenance activities, the runways of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport or the CSMIA have now resumed operations. Both runways, RW 09/27 and RWY 14/32 were out of operation from 11 AM to 5 PM on October 17. The post-monsoon maintenance and repair are done every year and are necessary to meet the highest standards that the Mumbai airport continuously strives to achieve.
5. New Flyover To Come Up Near Metro Line 6
MMRDA invited bids for Design and Construction of the Flyover Missing links from Link Road, Andheri West to Poonam Nagar JVLR in Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra
This will be adjacent to Mumbai Metro Line 6
Project cost – ₹350 crores

The Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority or MMRDA is all set to construct a new flyover near the Meto line 6. This will be done to ensure smooth movement of traffic between Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road or JVLR. The work on the flyover will begin soon.
