1. Yellow Alert Issued In The City Amid Heavy Rains

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert in Bangalore, predicting heavy rainfall in the upcoming days. The incessant rainfall in the Garden City has already caused waterlogging, massive traffic jams, felled trees and brought certain parts of the city to a halt. IMD forecast states that heavy rains are likely from Oct 10 to 12. Certain parts of Bengaluru will receive around 7-8cm of rainfall in the upcoming days.

2. QR Roads On Bangalore’s Roads To Provide Info On Work

To maintain transparency in Bangalore, Karnataka Deputy CM D K Shivakumar stated that the government will install QR codes on all roads. These QR roads will provide details of the work happening along a particular stretch. This announcement happens amid repeated complaints from citizens about poor-quality roads and delays in infrastructure completion in the city.

3. National Highway To Be Blocked Amid Cauvery Water Dispute

After the Bangalore Bandh and Karnataka Bandh protested the Cauvery water dispute, Pro-Kannada outfits announced that they would block the National Highway near Hoskote toll. They stated that they would block the National Highway on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

4. No Change In School Timings

To tackle traffic congestion in Bangalore, authorities mulled over changing school timings. However, after a meeting held by the Department of School Education & Literacy all stakeholders unanimously agreed to not change school timings. Instead of changing school timings, traffic police will regulate the traffic in the hotposts, locally. Also, bus pooling and the deployment of traffic wardens were other solutions discussed.
