Nashik experienced another earthquake on Friday, with the tremor measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale. The latest quake has raised concerns among residents as the district has experienced repeated seismic activity over the past few days. Read on to know more about it.
Another Earthquake Hits Nashik On Friday
According to a NewsX report, the latest tremor comes days after a 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck Nashik on Saturday evening last week. Residents in areas including Indiranagar, Main Road, Panchavati, Hiravadi and Pathardi Pada reported feeling the ground shake. Some households also reported pots and other items falling during the tremor.
Seismologists have attributed the repeated tremors to possible underground movements in the Nashik-Gujarat region. Nashik-based seismologist Dr Kiran Kumar Johar told the portal that several underground movements are currently taking place in the region.

He also pointed to heavy rainfall and water entering the ground as possible contributing factors. According to him, tectonic plate movements could be responsible for the mild tremors being felt in the area.
Seismologist Warns Of Possible Stronger Tremors
Dr Johar stated that repeated smaller tremors can sometimes help release pressure beneath the ground. However, he advised residents to remain cautious, noting that stronger tremors could still occur in the coming days. The repeated earthquakes have left residents anxious as officials and experts continue to monitor seismic activity across the district.
Meanwhile, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck Chamba in Himachal Pradesh on Friday morning. According to the reported data, the tremor occurred at 6:36 am at a depth of around 5 km.
The earthquake was recorded at 33.131° north latitude and 76.585° east longitude. No reports of damage or casualties have been received so far.
