Delhi is brimming with dining establishments that satisfy the wide range of tastes of its sophisticated diners. But in the middle of this culinary scene, a brand-new restaurant opens up that not only attracts customers but also breaks new ground by providing a novel viewpoint and flavours that the city’s foodies have been waiting for a long time. That would be Blanca, of course—a delightful two-story café and restaurant bar that invites guests to set out on a creative adventure where the timeless elegance of Victorian design melds with a carefree coastal vibe.

Blanca, created by its visionary founder, is more than just a place to eat; it is a haven of carefully curated experiential moments that honour the spirit of unrestrained living. Since its opening, Blanca had held a coveted spot on my culinary bucket list, and recently, I had the pleasure of immersing myself in its culinary delights. 

Its magical atmosphere captivated me from the moment I walked through the door. Its bright, empty space felt like a blank canvas, allowing visitors to express themselves freely and without inhibition. This unique idea creates an environment that is alive with limitless creativity and a strong sense of connection to the natural world.

Enthralled by the vivacity of the setting, I eagerly anticipated indulging in the culinary offerings. But there was a delightful quandary with the large menu—I was not sure what to order. Relying on the sage advice of the knowledgeable staff, I opted for the Vampire Slayer wellness shot—a potent elixir of ginger, lemon, mint, and cayenne—that invigorated my senses, priming them for the gastronomic journey ahead. Navigating the menu, I ultimately selected the Smoked Beets & Burrata Salad and Burrata Eggplant Cannoli, accompanied by a refreshing glass of Exotic Lime Kombucha. 

The visual allure of the dishes was surpassed only by their exquisite flavours; the freshness of the beet salad tantalised my taste buds, while the decadently stuffed cannoli, bathed in creamy vodka sauce, proved to be a revelation, even for a self-professed non-eggplant enthusiast. Even though I had planned to pace myself, the cannoli’s irresistible appeal kept me coming back for more.

Exploring The Unconventional Delights

Having savoured the Italian offerings, I ventured into Mexican territory with the Jalapeno Lamb Tostada, accompanied by hot sauce and avocado sour cream—a culinary masterpiece that demands attention. Each bite was a symphony of flavours and textures, with tender lamb patties enveloped in a blanket of cheese and onions atop crisp, bite-sized tostadas, delivering an explosion of taste with every mouthful. If there is one dish you simply have to try here, it would be this one.

Though thoroughly satiated, my culinary adventure was far from over. Eager to explore further, I sampled the Miso Cacio e Pepe Spaghetti and Katsu Fried Rice. The latter exceeded expectations, delivering an authentic taste experience with every morsel. However, the former fell slightly short of the mark. Its texture veered towards dryness despite commendable flavour profiles. However, the attentive team at Blanca graciously acknowledged the feedback, demonstrating a commitment to culinary excellence and guest satisfaction.

As the evening drew to a close, I indulged in the pièce de résistance—the Moroccan Chicken Harissa Cigars—a tantalising finale to an evening of gastronomic splendour. Bursting with flavour and baked to perfection, these savoury delights served as a fitting crescendo to a culinary odyssey unlike any other.

As the evening drew to a close, I reluctantly declined dessert, but not before receiving a heartfelt recommendation from Nasir, a staff member, who spoke passionately about the Spiked Chocolate Fondant—a dessert beloved for its harmonious blend of flavour and texture, embodying pure indulgence for chocolate enthusiasts.

Blanca stands as a beacon of culinary innovation and experiential dining in Chhatarpur, promising patrons a memorable gastronomic journey.
