Dakshin IS Now At ITC Grand Central, Mumbai

This premium restaurant takes immense pride in its identity, rooted in the rich culinary traditions of peninsular India. The highlight of this dining experience is the Chef’s Curated Menus. It is a guided journey through the flavours and traditions of states like Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. What sets this experience apart is the curation of menus with a choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian selections.

In a first-ever showcase, Dakshin introduces a ‘No Onion & No Garlic’ set menu, catering to guests with specific dietary preferences. From the comforting Beans Parippu Usli to the tangy and spiced Kara Kozhambu, and a flavourful rice selection from Andhra Pradesh known as Bagala Bhat, the menu is a culinary odyssey. Dessert options include the luscious Elaneer Payasam and Halwa.

The gourmet experience at Dakshin is interactive and indulgent. It begins with a basket of mixed papadams accompanied by five delectable chutneys, including a special chutney of the day, which could vary from bell pepper to cabbage or ridge gourd. Next, guests are treated to a delightful array of light bites from Dakshin Vishesha, featuring mini-dosas, vadas, and the famed banana dosa.

The epicurean journey continues with an assortment of mains served on a banana leaf-decked thali. Dishes such as sambar, kotto, and koyamboo, Gassi (spicy vegetable and lentil stews), kari or thovaran (warm vegetable salads), rasam (soup), and pachadi (yoghurt salad) unfold in a harmonious symphony of flavours. The server advises on the ideal combinations to enhance the taste experience.
