Watching a cricket match live at a stadium is an unbelievable experience. Shouting as loud as possible with thousands of unknown people, cheering for our favourite teams, and seeing the most loved cricketers right in front of our eyes are such surreal moments to cherish forever. But what if a ball hits anyone or breaks anything? In the past, we have seen a few of such similar incidents happening in different sports matches. Just recently, a fan’s mobile was hit by Daryl Mitchell, of course unintentionally.

A Fan’s iPhone Broke After A Ball Hit It

Taking to X, AnishCSK💛 (@TheAnishh) shared the video of the cricketer playing on the ground and how the ball hit the mobile.

This incident happened a few days back when Daryl Mitchell and other cricketers of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were practicing at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. It was sometime before CSK’s last match against Punjab Kings when the mishap took place. It can be seen that Mitchell was hitting a few shots while standing quite close to the boundary. While he attempted to hit a pull shot, the ball accidentally hit a fan’s iPhone in the crowd.

The ball not only broke the back glass of the mobile but looked like it hurt the guy as well. The fan can be seen sitting down right after the ball came at him. It was a sudden accident where no one was at fault. Daryl was shocked too seeing the consequences. The cricketer apologised to the fan and gifted a pair of his batting gloves. While the fan might have suffered the loss of a broken iPhone, he received the signed gloves of the New Zealand cricketer.

The fan later shared a few glimpses of his broken iPhone and shared videos of him wearing the signed gloves. It is a dream of every cricket fan to get signed bats, balls, helmets, or gloves from players. While the accidental breaking of his iPhone was a bit unpleasant, he got a pair of signed gloves to cherish forever. It is a bitter-sweet moment, right?

Netizens Are Not That Impressed With Daryl Mitchell’s Gesture

The CSK cricketer was kind enough to apologise and gift his gloves to the fan. However, most X users think that this was not enough for the loss. While some people commented how gifting an iPhone was the best option here, a few even wrote how Daryl could have presented him with a helmet instead.
