Flightradar24, a Swedish Internet-based service, has released a report that suggests that Delhi Airport sees an average delay of 65 minutes in departures. Flightradar24 shows real-time aircraft flight tracking information on a map and this report is quite concerning for the passengers.
As per these statistics, the disruption index for departures at the airport was recorded at 5. Although it might seem low, the number actually indicates major problems. These delays cause delays in passenger’s travel plans and hamper their overall experience. Thankfully, the delays in arrivals are much less. The average delay in arrivals was recorded at 5 minutes. This places Delhi Airport at a disruption index of 1.3.
How Many Flights Are Cancelled Or Delayed At An Average?
If you’re wondering what is causing these delays, then there are many reasons – ranging from dense fog conditions to airport congestion. The delayed departures percentage currently stands at 86%. For better understanding, just on Saturday, 102 arrival flights were delayed, while on the departure side, 353 flights were delayed. Varanasi, Gwalior, Patna, Kanpur, Shirdi, and Srinagar are some of the top destinations that see the most flight delays from the Delhi Airport.
