In an alarming series of events, a number of government hospitals as well as the Indira Gandhi International Airport or IGIA in Delhi received bomb threats. These bomb threats were received over email and were sent from an unidentified account. The bomb squad in Delhi thoroughly searched the areas under threat but found nothing suspicious. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about this particular news.

According to an article which was recently published by the Asian News International or ANI, the bomb threat for the IGIA was received on Sunday, May 12 via email. The sender of the email threatened that there was an explosive on the premises of the airport.

In addition to this, two government hospitals also received an email threatening the same. The two hospitals were Burari Government Hospital and Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri. Upon receiving these emails, the Delhi police took prompt action.

The bomb squad thoroughly searched all of the areas under threat. Fortunately, nothing suspicious was found in their scout. It is therefore possible that the threats were hoaxes.

Nothing Suspicious Found In The National Capital

There were five other government hospitals that also received bomb threats. They are Aruna Asif Ali Government Hospital,  Dada Dev Hospital in Dabri, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital in Hari Nagar, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Dilshad Garden and Hindu Rao Hospital in Malka Ganj.

All of these articles were thoroughly searched but nothing untoward was found. As per the ANI article, a total of 131 schools received a bomb threat. These emails were sent on May 1, Wednesday.

Addressing these emails, the Ministry of Home Affairs called these emails a hoax. The prompt action by the Delhi Police on receiving these emails is laudable. It is a testament to the commitment to safety that the institution has.
