Delhi: Exit From Metro’s Rajiv Chowk Not Allowed On Dec 31; More Updates On New Year Travel Restrictions

The new year is just around the corner, and all the states and cities are gearing up for it. As people are excited about it, police in various cities are ready with their advisories to make sure that the celebrations go on smoothly. Amidst this, Delhi Metro has released a travel advisory. It banned the metro’s Rajiv Chowk on December 31. Here’s why!

Exit From Delhi Metro’s Rajiv Chowk Not Allowed On Dec 31

On December 31, the Delhi metro will not allow passengers to exit from Rajiv Chowk after 9 pm. In order to avoid any problems, they have advised commuters to plan their travel appropriately.

The reason behind this decision is to lessen the crowding on New Year’s Eve. Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, stated that, per the police authorities’ advice, exiting the Rajiv Chowk Metro station will not be permitted after 9pm on New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2023) in order to reduce crowding.

Passengers may still enter, though, until the final train leaves the Rajiv Chowk Metro station on December 31. He said that commuters are asked to arrange their travel schedule appropriately.

The regular schedule for metro services will still be in effect for the remaining portions of the metro network.

Delhi Police Will Work In Shifts

The Delhi Traffic Police released a warning on Thursday outlining traffic restrictions in and around central Delhi ahead of the New Year’s festivities in the capital. They also urged people to be aware of the ensuing congestion near commercial centres.

In order to preserve peace and order during Sunday’s New Year’s celebrations, the Delhi Police will make extra preparations and station personnel at strategic locations throughout the capital city.

The police will work in shifts on New Year’s Eve, but all SHOs will be on the road and ready to handle any incident that arises.

On Thursday, a senior official declared that the Delhi Police has beefed up security measures around the city and that over 10,000 officers will be stationed there to tackle moving infractions and hooliganism. (as per Live Mint)
