As revealed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) by the Commissioner for Air Quality Management, this is the first day of the year when the AQI has fallen under the ‘satisfactory’ category. This means that the AQI at 85 has managed to fall in the ‘satisfactory’ category, which is between the index numbers of 50 to 100. In the same thread, it revealed that this satisfactory level of AQI for the month of March is the first in five years since 2020.
In case you are still unaware, an AQI, which is between 51 to 100, is a ‘satisfactory’ category, while those between 1 to 50 are considered to be ‘good’. Anything above 101 to 200 is considered to be ‘moderate’ while 201 to 300 is ‘poor’. This development comes at a time when Delhi was recently identified to be among the most polluted cities. It has been identified as a capital city with the poorest air quality.
