Delhi-Karnal, Delhi-Bawal Namo Bharat Corridors To Cut 3-Hour Journeys To Under 90 Minutes

The success of the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor is paving the way for the next phase of rapid rail expansion across the National Capital Region (NCR). Two proposed corridors, Delhi-Karnal and Delhi-Gurugram-Bawal, are moving towards implementation and are expected to improve connectivity between Delhi and several major urban, industrial and educational hubs in Haryana. Delhi-Karnal Namo Bharat Corridor

According to reports by News18, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is in the final stages of securing formal Cabinet approval from the Centre for both projects. Preparatory work has already begun at some locations, including utility mapping and the shifting of pipelines and power lines. Once operational, the corridors are expected to significantly reduce travel times. The Delhi-Karnal journey could take around 90 minutes, while the Delhi-Bawal trip is expected to take approximately 65 to 67 minutes.

The proposed Delhi-Karnal corridor will connect the national capital with several important centres across northern Haryana. The route is expected to improve access to Kundli in Sonipat, including its educational institutions and residential areas, potentially making daily travel easier for students, employees and residents. Further along the route, passengers will get faster access to Panipat, a major textile and industrial hub. The corridor is also expected to benefit workers and businesses operating around the region’s industrial facilities.

Currently, a road journey from Delhi to Karnal can take around three hours, depending on traffic conditions. The proposed Namo Bharat service could reduce this to approximately 90 minutes, significantly cutting commuting time.

Delhi-Gurugram-Bawal Namo Bharat Route

The second corridor will connect Delhi with Gurugram, Manesar and Bawal, covering one of southern Haryana’s key automobile and manufacturing belts. The route is also expected to bring Indira Gandhi International Airport into the Namo Bharat network while improving connectivity to Gurugram’s commercial centres and Manesar’s automobile and industrial clusters. The corridor will also serve the Manesar-Bawal Investment Region, an important industrial development area. Faster connectivity could benefit employees, businesses and investors travelling between Delhi and these industrial hubs.

The Delhi-Bawal journey, which can take around three hours by road, is expected to be reduced to about 67 minutes through the proposed rapid rail service. With preparatory activities already underway, the two corridors could significantly expand the Namo Bharat network and transform daily commuting between Delhi and Haryana once they receive the required approvals and become operational.
