Republic Day is almost here. On Monday, the entire country will come alive in tricolours. Delhi is gearing up for the Republic Day celebrations with rehearsals for the much-awaited annual parade. However, this year, Karnataka will not feature a tableau in the Republic Day parade. Instead, it will be showcased at the Red Fort. Here’s the reason behind this decision.
No Karnataka’s Tableau In Republic Day Parade This Year
According to a report by The New Indian Express, Karnataka’s tableau themed ‘Millets to Microchip’ will not be part of the 77th Republic Day parade on Kartavya Path this year. Reason? The theme was not selected for the parade. Instead of featuring in the main parade, Karnataka’s tableau will be stationed at Bharat Parv at the Red Fort. The event is organised by the Ministry of Tourism.
At Bharat Parv, tableaux, regional cuisines, handicrafts, and handlooms from states and Union Territories are showcased for 30 days. Officials from the Information Department shared with The New Indian Express that in 2022, the Union Government decided that states and Union Territories would participate alternately in the Republic Day parade and Bharat Parv. This could also be a reason why Karnataka is not part of the parade this year.

Tableau Created At A Cost Of ₹2 Crore
Last year, Karnataka featured in the Republic Day parade. As per the Union Government’s decision, the state’s tableau will be showcased at the Red Fort in 2026 instead. Reportedly, the team behind Karnataka’s tableau is not happy with the decision. However, they are not complaining either. As per a report by The New Indian Express, a team of 200 craftsmen was deployed in Delhi to create the tableau at a cost of ₹2 crore.
This year’s tableau highlights Karnataka’s indigenous roots as well as its technological innovations. It features farmers growing millets and other staple crops of the state. The display also includes aerospace technology, telemedicine, a woman operating a drone, and a rising sun that symbolises progress and mobility. The tableau reflects Karnataka’s journey and growth over the years.
