Despite Paying $40, People Get A Sparsely Decorated Warehouse For An “Immersive” Willy Wonka-Themed Event In Glasgow

Willy Wonka once said, “The best kind of prize is a *sur*prise!” And that’s exactly what people got – although not a pleasant one – when they arrived to attend a Willy Wonka-inspired event in Glasgow. People were surprised to find a sparsely decorated warehouse with cheap-looking decorations and just three people dressed as Willy Wonka and Oompa Loompas instead of an “immersive experience” as promised by the organisers. This made people, especially families, furious as they paid $40 per head to attend this event. They eventually had to call in the police and ask for a full refund for this sad turn of events.

As a generation that grew up reading and watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Willy Wonka and the entire chocolate factory experience is a big part of our childhood. So, when we hear about the sad experience of families at a Willy Wonka-inspired show in Scotland’s Glasgow, we feel equally wronged!

On February 24, a Willy Wonka-themed experience was opened for people by an event company called House of Illuminati. They charged $40 per person for the event. On their website, they promised attendees everything from chocolate fountains and book-like chocolate factory experiences to performances by Oompa Loompas. Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? However, the reality was far from perfect. When the event opened, people found a sparsely decorated warehouse with two women wearing green wigs and an actor poorly dressed as Willy Wonka!

This sad and nightmare-ish experience made the attendees furious. They called in the police and called the whole event a scam. While the three actors, reportedly, tried their best to salvage the lost case, it was too much for the people who travelled from far and paid $40 to witness this sad event. There was a lot of shouting and chaos there and even the police were called in. The police arrived and shut down the event. They even asked the organisers to refund the ticket amount to the attendees and apologies for causing so much chaos.

That truly is a nightmare! This is one letdown we wouldn’t ever forgive for! What do you think about this entire fiasco? Let us know in the comments!
