We often judge airports by how many flights they handle. But this airport is about to change that perception. Khajuraho Airport in Madhya Pradesh has topped India’s customer satisfaction rankings despite having no heavy air traffic. Read on to know more!
Khajuraho Airport Tops Customer Satisfaction Rankings
In the Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) latest Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI), Khajuraho Airport has been ranked India’s top airport for customer satisfaction. As per News18, what makes this achievement surprising is that the airport has had no scheduled commercial flights since July 1 and is expected to remain without regular services throughout August.
Before flight operations were suspended, the airport had only two scheduled flights connecting Khajuraho with Delhi and Varanasi. These services are expected to resume in October. Despite having no commercial flights at present, the airport topped the rankings because AAI’s Customer Satisfaction Index does not measure passenger traffic or the number of flights. Instead, it focuses on the overall passenger experience.

What Factors Were Considered In The Ranking?
For the ranking, the customers considered several factors like cleanliness, terminal maintenance, parking facilities, signboards, baggage handling, security checks, seating, Wi-Fi, food and beverage options, accessibility, and staff behaviour. Apart from this, authorities also checked hygiene, washrooms, ambience, and customer service.
Another advantage for smaller airports is that they are easier to manage than major aviation hubs. News18 reported that however, since Khajuraho Airport currently has no scheduled commercial flights, many believe connectivity should also be considered alongside passenger experience while ranking airports.
