What is the scheme?

The scheme will be launched on Bhai Dooj which falls on the 29th of October and has been approved until March 2020, a clear nod to see how the scheme fairs in the first few months. The kicker lies in the fact that the scheme allows women to voluntarily opt for the pink ticket or not go for it at all. That’s right, given a choice, you can forgo of the scheme if you don’t require it.

Elaborating on the topic, sources quoted that the DTC board has gone ahead and approved free travel for women. Besides that, they have also sanctioned and signed off on the purchase of 300 electric buses. Which is good news considering how badly stricken the city of Delhi is when it comes to pollution.

And with around 5,485 buses in total, the scheme is all set to bring about a turn around in Delhi’s transport sector.
