Dubai And Abu Dhabi Peeps Get Ready For The First Lunar Eclipse Of 2023 This Friday

Are you someone who strongly believes that the most beautiful thing is the sky and that it is full of possibilities? Too philosophical to understand? In simple words, do you like stargazing? If yes, then get ready for the first lunar eclipse of 2023, which will be this Friday, May 5. Dubai and Abu Dhabi people, get ready to witness this magical eclipse soon.

First Lunar Eclipse Of 2023

The first lunar eclipse of 2023 will take place on May 5, Friday. This first eclipse is going to be a penumbral lunar eclipse. On this eclipse, from 6:15 pm, you can see the moon darken but not completely.

Only on a full moon night, when the sun, earth, and moon line up in space with Earth in the centre, can an eclipse of the moon occur. A lunar eclipse results from the moon being covered by Earth’s shadow. Penumbral lunar eclipses occur when just the penumbra, or Earth’s outer, outermost shadow, covers the face of the moon.

The penumbral lunar eclipse is the most subtle and hence difficult to spot or observe with the naked eye. It is the most tricky one, and hence one needs a telescope to look at it.

Witness May Full Moon

The first lunar eclipse will begin at 6:15 pm and is expected to end at 10:32 pm on Friday. At 8:24 pm, the eclipse is expected to peak.

The moon will be extremely bright on Friday as it will be a May Full Moon or also known as a full Flower Moon. This time the eclipse will coincide with the bright May Full Moon day.

Because spring flowers bloom in May, the full moon in that month is referred to as the “Flower Moon.” The Flower Moon marks the start of spring and coincides with the appearance of the first spring flowers.
