Dubai Authorities Cancel Live Entertainment In Hotels And Restaurants

The covid-19 cases in the UAE are on the rise and to curb the situation, authorities have put a halt on all live entertainment that takes place in hotels and restaurants. The directive came in from Dubai Tourism, will affect the performance by DJs, dancers and bands. The notice was issued after the authorities recorded an increase in violations during the inspection.

Dubai Authorities Have Recorded 200 Offences In Three Weeks 

On this, Dubai Media Office said that the decision is made to ensure the public safety and all issued permits are now on hold with immediate effect. The officials have recorded 200 offences in three weeks and temporarily shut down 20, which led them to take this drastic measure.

Covid Cases In The UAE On A Rise After Christmas And New Year’s Holidays 

The announcement came in a circular from Dubai Government’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTM), advising managers and owners of hotels and restaurants across Dubai of the change. For the ban, no period has been announced, and the ban will stay in place until further notice. The department will continuously assess the new situation with the health authorities and take steps accordingly.

In terms of covid, cases have spiked after Christmas and New Year holidays, rising from about 1,000 per day in late December to 3,500 per day. Not only the live entertainment, but the authorities have also issued an update to healthcare centres to cancel all non-essential surgery for a month.
