Dubai Bans Outdoor Dining And Shisha Services During Ramadan Fasting Hours

Dubai has laid down several rules for Ramadan this year, keeping the current situation in mind. However, the emirate also allowed eateries to serve food during the fasting hours without any special permits. However, that update had confused the hoteliers regarding outdoor dining. And, now, to clear all the confusion, senior officials have clarified have said that outdoor dining at eateries is banned during fasting hours in Ramadan. Read on to know more about it.

Outdoor Dining And Shisha During The Day Are Still Banned In Ramadan 

Mohammed Ali Rashed Lootah, CEO of the Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection (CCCP) sector in Dubai Economy, said to Gulf News,

“Outdoor seating is not allowed during fasting hours. Delivery of food can be continued as usual.”

Dining areas, in Dubai, may not be shut in the daytime- however, outdoor dining and shisha service are still banned. The shisha services in all commercial outlets are forbidden during the day for Ramadan. Mr Lootah also said,

“It is not allowed to serve shisha during the fasting hours at any establishment. It is not allowed even in hotel restaurants.”

Last Food And Shisha Order During Ramadan Can Be Taken Only Till 3 AM

Shisha can be served only after iftar and until 4 AM. As per the Ramadan rules, the last order for the day, can be taken only till 3 AM. It is applicable in the case of shisha cafés also. However, while these rules need to be followed by everyone, there are some exceptions too.

Sultan Ali Al Taher, head of Food Inspection at the Food Safety Department in Dubai Municipality, said to Gulf News that dining is allowed in private beach areas if the food is served on the premises of the hotels. He added,

“Restaurants in hotels are allowed to serve food in outdoor seating areas.”
