Dubai is not that far from Sharjah- however, because of the traffic, it sometimes gets tiresome to reach Sharjah on time. And now, guess what? The Roads and Transport Authority has a solution for that too. Yep, you can reach Sharjah from Dubai in just 9-minutes. How do you ask? Well, read on to know more about it.

The Route Can Manage 8,000 to 16,000 Cars Per Hour

You can now travel to and from Sharjah in just 9-minutes because of the latest Al Khawaneej Roads Improvement Project that is now open to the public. The route has been introduced to reduce congestion on the road. It has the capacity of three lanes and can manage 8,000 to 16,000 cars per hour as outlined by the Director-General for the RTA, Mattar Al Tayer.

Speaking about this development to a leading daily, Mattar Al Tayer said,

“The Improvement of Al Khawaneej Roads Project is one of the key strategic projects for improving the links between Dubai and Sharjah through the improvement of vertical roads linking with the Emirates Road and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road up to the Airport Street.”

You Can Now Reach Sharjah From Dubai In 9 Minutes

And now, after the intersection of Al Khawaneej and Al Amardi Roads, the time travel is halved per vehicle from 120 seconds to 60 seconds, making the waiting time much lesser than usual. In terms of this project, it included the implementation of a tunnel on Al Khawaneej Street at its intersection with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, with a length of 680m, a capacity of three lanes in each direction, and a surface intersection controlled by light signals to ensure free and safe traffic movement on Al Khawaneej Street.
