The huge halls of Dubai World Trade Centre have been transformed into the Middle East’s largest hospital. The centre accommodates 3000 beds, including 800 intensive care beds. The move is part of UAE’s efforts to increase the number of beds to handle Covid patients.

Speaking of the initiative, Humaid Al Qatami, director general of Dubai Health Authority, said the emirate has plans in place for all scenarios. He also added that the authorities were equipped to help more than 10,000 patients. “We will have more than two field hospitals ready in Dubai in the coming days to be ready for any situation,” Al-Outami said.

In addition, the UAE has also launched testing centre across the country. Over 32,000 tests are conducted at UAE’s recently opened drive-thru test centers. Furthermore, the UAE has also established a massive testing laboratory.

FREE Drive-Through Testing Centre

Dubai opened a new Covid testing centre in Al Nasr. The centre allows free Covid testing for nationals and expats.  and is open daily from 8am to 6.30pm. The five-minute test is FREE and does not even require you to get out of your car. However, those interested in getting tested must register with the Dubai Health Authority.

The centre also tests for senior citizens; pregnant women; people of determination; people with chronic diseases; and people with COVID-19 symptoms and can allocate up to 250 tests a day. Meanwhile, in case you’re planning to head for a free test, here’s a guide that will help:

Can I Leave My Home T0 Get The Test Done During The National Disinfection Programme?

Yes, you can. In case you’re stopped by a police official, you can present your confirmation text message. If a radar captures your car, you can present the text as proof later on. However, residents must wear gloves and a face mask when they leave their home. As well as no more than three passengers are allowed in a car.

When And How Will I Receive The Test Results?

You can view the results by downloading the DHA app, by clicking on ‘Patient services’ and then on lab results. The results will be released in 48 hours.

What Should I Do If I Test Positive?

Don’t panic, just isolate yourself at home and the DHA team will contact you to do the necessary. In case you do not receive a call, you can contact 800DHA (800342).

How Can I Book An Appointment?

Contact the DHA call centre on 800 DHA and you will receive a confirmation text. You must present this text in order to get the text done.
