Air India Express Flight Returns To Kochi
An Air India Express Boeing 737 operating flight IX 415 from Kochi to Abu Dhabi had to return to Kochi after the pilot noticed that the oil quantity in Engine 1 was dropping. As per Hindustan Times, the issue came to light while the aircraft was flying at around 36,000 feet. The flight had been in the air for nearly 50 minutes when the crew noticed the technical problem.
The situation became serious when the oil pressure in Engine 1 entered the danger zone. The crew then shut down the engine. Before making the decision, the pilots carried out a FORDEC assessment, a structured method used to make decisions during flight operations. As the oil quantity continued to fall, the pilots decided not to continue towards Abu Dhabi. Instead, they turned the aircraft around and safely returned to Kochi.

A Delhi-bound IndiGo aircraft also returned to Goa after an engine-related technical problem and made an emergency landing. On September 6, a Virgin Atlantic flight from Bengaluru to London also returned to Kempegowda International Airport after developing a technical problem soon after take-off.
