Dubai’s Global Village Breaks New Guinness Record World Title; Aims To Break 24 More This Season

Dubai’s Global Village broke the Guinness World Records title for the “most videos in a music medley video” on 30 October. The gig is the biggest virtual rock concert in history. The shopping fest aims to break 24 other World records to honour the Silver Jubilee anniversary.

Global Village Breaks The First Of 25 Guinness World Records

On 30 October, musicians from Rockin’1000, the world’s largest rock band took to the stage to celebrate Global Village’s 25th season. The incredible musical spectacular was witnessed by audiences across the globe via the fest’s Youtube channel.

In addition, a pop group phenomenon Now United wowed guests with a live performance of Come Together. 12 members of this talented group flew in from 12 different countries to perform with their newest member, Nour, from Lebanon. Performers from over 80 countries participated in the record event. The concert was streamed live from the main stage on Global Village’s YouTube channel to allow people from every country and continent to attend the show virtually.

Looking ahead, Global Village has its sights set on making more history this season as guests are taken on a unique 25-week adventure full of thrills and excitement.

Safety Precautions To Be Followed

Last year, Global Village was to run until April 4, but the closure was advanced to 15 March due to the Covid pandemic. Visitors heading to Global Village were asked to wear a facemask to curb the spread of the virus. This year, the shopping fest will see a strict line up of rules to ensure safety of residents. The Global Village has received the Dubai Assured Stamp awarded by Dubai Municipality, Dubai Economy and Dubai Tourism.

“Our 25th anniversary is a great milestone for us and the teams are working hard to make this year very special. We also feel that this is an important message for the country and the region,” says Bader Anwahi, chief executive, Global Village.

From using state-of-the-art technology for routes within the village to contactless payment and virtual entertainment offerings, the team is doing their very best to ensure residents can have fun while following the Covid-19 rules.
