In a proactive response to water accumulation, Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) efficiently reopened Emirates highway, a major thoroughfare that experienced a temporary closure. The affected stretch was Emirates Road in both directions between Expo Road and Al Fayah Truck Road.

RTA’s Rapid Response By Navigating The Detour

The closure, prompted by water accumulation, raised concerns about disruptions to the flow of traffic on Emirates Road. RTA swiftly took action, advising motorists en route to Dubai to explore alternative routes, with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road being a recommended option. Simultaneously, those heading towards Abu Dhabi were urged to divert via Expo Road.

Restoring Traffic Normalcy

Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, RTA deployed its emergency teams to address the water accumulation and facilitate the swift restoration of smooth traffic flow. The authority’s commitment to resolving the issue promptly was evident as updates were communicated via social media, with confirmation of the road’s reopening posted at 4.25 pm.

Strategic Closure Of Dubai Highway Amid Festivities

The decision to temporarily close Emirates Road bore significance as it coincided with Christmas Day, a time when numerous residents were preparing to attend mass services in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The closure aimed to ensure public safety and manage the influx of attendees to Christmas Day mass services, fostering a secure environment for the festive gatherings.

Christmas Celebrations Amidst Closure

Notably, Christmas Eve Mass services at prominent locations such as St Joseph’s Cathedral in Abu Dhabi and St Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubai witnessed substantial attendance.
