Before the grand celebrations begin on Shoshti, committees, clubs, artists, and everyone involved in making pandals, crafting idols, and beautifying streets are working relentlessly to meet the deadlines. Odhisa’s Cuttack is also gearing up to celebrate Durga Puja with beautiful Chandi Medhas at different Durga Puja pandals.
Two New Pandals In Cuttack To Celebrate Durga Puja With Chandi Medhas Installations
Cuttack’s Durga Puja celebrations are renowned for their majestic Chandi Medha designs. The impressive decorations and beautiful intricacies of these traditional frameworks are famous worldwide. A one-of-a-kind ritual to place Maa Durga idols in silver filigree backgrounds that started in 1951 in this city now has 34 puja pandal committees celebrating the festival following the iconic patterns.
Cuttack’s Durga Puja festivities are all ready to brighten up and showcase radiance with Ramgarh-Kanika Chhak pandal and Tulasipur-Mathasahi pandal joining the reputed list of setting up the historical Chandi Medhas this year. According to a report by The New Indian Express, the Choudhury Bazaar puja committee is the initiator to handcraft these magnificent Chandi Medhas for Maa Durga.
The puja committee working on the Ramgarh-Kanika Chhak pandal finalised the idea to create a Chandi Medha measuring 14 feet in height and 9 feet in width. 200 kg of silver is being used to make this splendid silver tableau. Over 10 artists are showcasing their talent to craft this dazzling background. Nirakar Das, a leading artisan, revealed that this background is being developed at a budget of ₹2.5 crore. Designed with 25 peacocks, each bird weighs 3.5 kg.

Another pandal in Cuttack that joined the list of pujas with Chandi Medhas decor is the Tulasipur Durga Puja committee. The traditional silver background at this pandal is 15 feet tall and 14 feet wide. Nirakar is also the craftsman behind this extraordinary creation. To prepare the breathtaking frame for the idols, the committee provided about 200 kg of silver. If you are visiting this pandal, make sure to pay attention to the swans. These have silver motifs decorated with vibrant designs such as Ambakasia, Phula Patti, and more.
The inauguration event for these Chandi Medhas will take place on October 9.
