Emmy Awards is one of the most prestigious awards for best achievements on Television and streaming in the United States. This year, the venue for Emmy Awards 2022 was the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The grand celebration took place on 12 September, Monday. It was the 74th year of the award ceremony. This year’s venue has been the host to some of the most celebrated award ceremonies previously. Here are all the deets about the Microsoft Theater in LA.

1. Venue Of Award Shows

  • Primetime Emmy Awards 2022 is not the first time since the award ceremony was hosted in this LA theater. Interestingly, Microsoft theater is hosting Emmy since 2008. Also, this is the venue for the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. This generally occurs a week prior to the Emmy Awards ceremony.
  • The hosting ground for the American Music Awards is this place since 2007.
  • Microsoft theater is hosting the ESPY Awards since 2008.
  • This theatre was the venue for the Grammy Nominations Live in 2008 and 2011.
  • From 2010 to 2017, the theatre hosted the People’s Choice Awards.
  • Microsoft theater was the venue for the annual BET Awards from 2013 to 2019 and 2021.
  • The MTV Video Music Awards had this place as the venue in 2010, 2011, and 2015.
  • Radio Disney Music Awards was hosted here from 2013 till 2017.
  • The venue hosted The Game Awards in 2015.
  • The theater hosted the iHeartRadio Music Awards in 2019.
  • Lastly, the Billboard Music Awards was hosted here in 2021.

2. History Of The Microsoft Theater

ELS Architecture and Urban Design of Berkeley designed the LA theater in 2002. The theatre’s first concert was The Eagles and The Dixie Chicks starting on 18 October 2007. Previously known as the Nokia Theatre, this venue was renamed the Microsoft Theater on 7 June 2015 because of a deal with AEG Live. In fact, this naming rights deal led to the changes of L.A. Live plaza to Microsoft Square.

3. Sports Venue

Microsoft Theater hosted several sporting events as well. This place was the venue for professional boxing matches.  In the upcoming years, the venue will also host weightlifting at the 2028 Summer Olympics.
