Etihad Airways, which is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates and China Eastern Airline, which is a top global airline, have signed a joint venture. The aim is to develop and grow the routes between UAE and China. This will in turn result in a stronger combined network! As it happens, this joint venture signifies a commitment towards offering expanded travel options and a seamless travel experience.
So, passengers who’re travelling between major cities of China like Beijing, Xi’an, Kunming, and Shanghai and key cities in the UAE and MENA region, are bound to experience seamless travel. At this point, it should be noted that this partnership will be implemented in early 2025, once all the necessary regulatory clearances have been secured.

What Does It Mean For Travellers?

As it happens, both these airlines will be introducing full reciprocity, for the existing frequent programmes in the final quarter of 2024. As such, this will allow passengers to seamlessly earn points and redeem their rewards when they fly with either of the airlines. An important milestone, this partnership is certainly going to allow both airlines to offer travellers an enhanced travel experience and exceptional value. It’s worth mentioning that with this venture, the alliance will be managing the flight capacity on the chosen routes together. They will also be coordinating schedules and sharing revenues! However, it will involve no equity investment or caution. While this is a more common venture between European and American Airlines, this is the first time that a partnership is happening between the Middle East and China.
So, once this part comes to fruition, travelling is certainly going to be easier for people.
