If you’re travelling from London to Paris, there’s no doubt that you’d board a Eurostar train to reach your destination. The 2-hour and 16-minute journey would be one with panoramic views and comfort. Now, for the first time in 30 years, Eurostar has competition. Say hello to Evolyn, a new train all set to make its debut on the London-Paris route in 2025.
New Train, Evolyn To Come Up On London-Paris Route In 2025
According to a report by Reuters, Evolyn is all set to offer high-speed service from London to Paris, giving direct competition to the popular Eurostar. For this, Evolyn has already purchased 12 trains to ferry passengers between the U.K. and mainland Europe in 2025.
A spokesperson for Eurostar revealed to news agencies that it’s the first time in 30 years that Eurostar’s monopoly is being challenged. And a new competitor has entered the market. While Evolyn will launch in 2025, it won’t be completely operational till 2026.
Getlink operates the Channel Tunnel and revealed to media agencies that thanks to the tunnel’s open access it can accommodate double the current rail traffic levels. The new train will operate between St Pancras International in London and Gare du Nord in Paris. While we don’t know the ticket prices yet, we certainly hope it will be a competitive and budget-friendly price.

When it comes to Eurostar, the train company has also been innovating. It recently launched a new weekly train to the French Alps targeting skiers. The train runs from London to France’s top ski resorts just in time for the winter season. The need to enhance train services comes after France put a ban on certain domestic flights if there are already train alternatives available. France did this to reduce carbon emissions.
With a new train, Evolyn, coming up on the London-Paris route are you looking forward to it?
