Nauheed Cyrusi Talks About Parsi Portrayal In Bollywood Movies
In our latest Tere Gully Mein episode, we spent some time exploring Parsi Colony in Mumbai with Nauheed Cyrusi. As we explored some of the hidden gems in the colony, we spoke about how Parsis are portrayed in movies. The actress said, “Itne exaggerated hote hain.” She specifically pointed out that no one says “Dikra, dikra” anymore.
She explained that these terms were used in the old days, and even her mother doesn’t call her “Dikra.” We also spoke about how movies often show older Parsis sitting and playing carrom, which the actress also denied. She mentioned that her 96-year-old grandmother still reads. Once again, she pointed out that movies tend to exaggerate everything.

What Do Parsis Eat At Home?
As the interview continues, we visited Nauheed Cyrusi’s mother’s home, where we enjoyed a home tour and sat at the dining table for some conversation. During the interview, the actress’s mother revealed some of the dishes they eat at home. She mentioned Dal Chawal and Patiya. Revealing their home’s signature dish, she shared that she makes really good Ribbon Rice.
Explaining what Patiya is, the mother-daughter duo said that it is made with tomatoes and fish. They eat Prawn Patiya with a bland dal made with Toor dal and ghee, without any tadka. They said the combination tastes delicious.
