When Will It Start Operating?

The construction period of the Mopa airport took a lot of time due to quite a few delays in between. The work started in August 2016 and the plan suggested completing the development in 36 months, within 2019 or 2020. But things did not work accordingly. First, the timing was delayed as Supreme Court granted a stay because of some environmental issues. It delayed the project by over 1 year. The estimated deadline after that was decided by the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022.

And now Goa’s Chief Minister said that the construction will end by the end of 2022 or the initial months of 2023. Mopa will provide services to passengers on both domestic and international journeys. This is going to be the second international airport in Goa, the first being the Goa International Airport in Dabolim.
