Flipkart, the e-commerce giant owned by Walmart, has launched a new quick commerce service called Flipkart Minutes in Bengaluru. This service is currently available in select areas, marking a significant move into the fast-paced delivery market.

Flipkart Minutes Unveils Rapid Deliveries In Bengaluru

Flipkart Minutes promises incredibly fast deliveries, ranging from 8 to 16 minutes, covering a broad spectrum of products from groceries to electronics. With this launch, Flipkart aims to challenge prominent players in the quick commerce sector, including Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, and BigBasket’s BB Now.

Previously, Flipkart Minutes was available only on a trial basis to employees at Flipkart’s headquarters. Now, it is accessible to the general public through the Flipkart app. Users on X (formerly Twitter) have reported receiving groceries and other items within minutes through Flipkart Minutes. This real-time feedback suggests that the service is already making an impact in Bengaluru.

The timing of Flipkart Minutes’ launch is notable. The quick commerce sector is highly competitive, with other players expanding aggressively. For instance, Blinkit, one of Flipkart Minutes’ main competitors, has announced plans to increase its number of dark stores to 2,000 by 2026. This expansion plan is double its previous target of 1,000 dark stores by March 2025. Dark stores are mini warehouses located strategically to facilitate rapid deliveries. Zepto, another key player, aims to double its network to 700 dark stores by March 2025. Swiggy Instamart, another significant competitor, operates more than 500 dark stores across various locations.

Flipkart’s entry into this market with Flipkart Minutes reflects its strategy to capture a share of the growing demand for ultra-fast deliveries. The company plans to bolster its quick commerce capabilities by operating around 100 dark stores, particularly as the festive season approaches. These dark stores will enable Flipkart to fulfil rapid delivery requests more efficiently, enhancing its competitive edge in the sector.
