Food Delivery Platforms Like Zomato And Swiggy Must Stay Away From Dine-In Spaces, Suggests NRAI President Kabir Suri.

NRAI

Food delivery applications like Swiggy and Zomato have surely made the lives of their customers easier. But is that the same with its partners, like restaurants? Well, that is a huge question mark. Swiggy’s dine-out programme was not well received by the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI). It had issued an advisory asking restaurants to log out of the program. Recently, NRAI suggested food delivery platforms like Zomato and Swiggy stay out of the dine-in space.

NRAI & Food Delivery Apps

NRAI had asked all its restaurants to log out of Swiggy’s programme as it was not working for the F&B dine-in business. Due to this, about 400 brands and 900 dining restaurants have been delisted from the Swiggy dine-out application. NRAI President Kabir Suri also said that the industry is not very happy with the elements that are on Zomato Pay.

He suggested delivery platforms like Zomato and Swiggy try to keep a distance from the dine-in space. He also said that they are trying to mend ways so that it is a win-win situation for both ends. Renowned restaurateur Riyaaz Amlani said that the industry has never been in favour of deep discounting. The reason behind it is that they want to be judged on the basis of quality and service.

Zomato Introduced Zomato Pay

Recently, Zomato launched its new payment service, Zomato Pay. By dining at partner restaurants, Zomato customers can easily avail of cashback and discounts. The workings of this application are similar to those of Zomato Pro and Gold. The restaurants need to sign up, become partners, and take on the burden of discounts. But as we have seen, the restaurant industry is not very supportive of the deep discounting model.
