Famous nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar (@rujuta.diwekar) took to social media to share healthy tips for frequent travellers. Frequent travellers often struggle to maintain a healthy diet. They may not pay attention to when or what they eat, such as having meals at midnight or going for hours without eating or drinking anything.
These travellers may also heavily rely on fast food, airport snacks, or sugary drinks. But it’s time to make a change, as unhealthy food choices can affect digestion, energy levels, and hydration. Over time, they may also contribute to fatigue and make it harder to stay healthy while travelling. So, here are some tips you can follow.

Unhealthy Habits To Swap While Travelling
1. Cut the quantity
When you’re travelling, make sure you reduce the quantity of food you usually eat at home. For example, if you usually eat two rotis at home, have just one while travelling. Follow the same rule for dosa. For rice, reduce the portion to half a katori.
2. Eat from the staff kitchen
During trips, avoid ordering food from regular restaurant menus, as these dishes can be loaded with spices and oil. Instead, ask for the kind of food the staff members eat. Their meals are more likely to include fresh sabzi, dal, and less oil and spices, making them a healthier choice while travelling.
3. Replace items in the minibar
The minibar in your hotel room usually has sugary drinks like cold drinks, so make sure you swap them for healthier options. While travelling, try to rely on snacks like fresh fruits, peanuts, and prunes. You can also carry homemade snacks to avoid unhealthy food choices during your trip.
4. Carry a water bottle
It’s important to stay hydrated. When travelling, we often forget to drink water and rely on other unhealthy drinks. So, to avoid this, make sure you always carry a bottle with you.
