The radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been running for years. In this show, he addresses the nation and talks about various topics. Everyone knows about his connection with tea, but this time, in the 127th edition of Mann Ki Baat, he spoke about coffee and praised Koraput coffee from Odisha. Read on to know what the Prime Minister has said about this famous coffee.

During Mann Ki Baat, Narendra Modi talked about Indian coffee and how it is one of the best in the world. He mentioned that many people from Odisha had asked him to talk about Koraput coffee. The Prime Minister described how coffee farming is changing lives in the Koraput region. The surprising part was that many well-paid corporate employees have left their jobs to work in the coffee farming industry because of their passion for it.

Furthermore, the PM also mentioned that coffee farming has turned out to be highly beneficial for women and has changed their lives for the better. He revealed that all over the world, Indian coffee is gaining popularity and Indian coffee beans are loved by many coffee lovers. He further added that, “India’s coffee is coffee at its finest. It is brewed in India and loved by the world.”

India mainly grows two types of coffee—Arabica and Robusta. Karnataka leads production with nearly 70% of the country’s output, followed by Kerala and Tamil Nadu. But in recent years, states like Odisha and Andhra Pradesh have started emerging as new coffee-growing hubs, reported Hindustan Times.

Coffee-Producing Regions In India

In the 127th edition of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the growing global identity of Indian coffee and mentioned several regions that are playing a key role in its cultivation.

He named Chikmagalur, Coorg, and Hassan in Karnataka; Pulney, Shevaroy, Nilgiri, and Annamalai in Tamil Nadu; the Nilgiri region on the Karnataka–Tamil Nadu border; and Wayanad, Travancore, and Malabar in Kerala. He also highlighted that regions in Northeast India are steadily expanding coffee production and contributing to India’s diverse coffee landscape.
